PDF Reader: Edit & Convert PDF App Reviews

Seems Second Rate...

I’ve had this three days, and here is a summary: Day One - Worked great! I love this app! Day Two - Hmmm, I’m unable to view documents unless I go to full screen mode. Not a big deal, the tool bar is still there and I can access everything I need easily. Minor inconvenience. Day Three - Toolbar is missing and there is a highly distracting big black stripe where the toolbar used to be. I am able to access the menu bar, but I can’t find any toolbar options to correct this. It saved itself from a one-star rating because in the end, it performs the very basic function of displaying PDF’s…at least until day 4.

It trashed 300 pages worth of highlights! TERRIBLE!!

I spent all weekend reading a 300 page document, making highlights. I tested after one highlight and it all seemed good. During the weekend, I would save frequently. When I was all done, I opened the PDF on my PC at work, horrified to find 300 BLANK PAGES - not the original document, no hightlights. Instead of the file being 3 megs, it was only 300kb. I’m beyound furious. If I could give it zero stars, I would !!! -Mike

Great app

I’m a scholar and writer, and use my iMac to do research, resulting in many PDF documents. I found Adobe very awkward to open such files, but the Reader does it in a flash and keeps my articles in order.

Freehand bug

I’ve been using this app to annotate pdfs, especially those that don’t have word recognition (so I can’t highlight text), and so far I like that I can add shape boxes wherever I want (and not like with current Preview where the box appears and you have to move it). However, I was looking forward to the freehand writing tool to underline words faster but it just doesn’t work. I see the line and as soon as I’m done clicking/underlining, it disappears! I tried changing the color, the style of the line, etc, and I just cannot figure out how to actually see the lines once I’ve made them. I’ll keep the app around in case this is a bug that’s on its way of being fixed. I have El Capitan, btw.

I recommend it

Pretty good.

Waaay better than preview

tired of preview cutting you off to saving/copy itself? Tired of waiting 10 minutes to search for a word? This thing is sooo much better in those respected. Otherwise just as good as preview as far as I can tell.

Just a normal pdf reading tool, not so much good, not too bad

Pros: 1.continuous two pages viewing mode; 2.decent editing tools. Cons: 1.Liminted reading space; 2. the total page number of a file is not shown.

FINALLY!

This app is a hidden gem that took me ages to find. Apple removed the “add link” feature from preview and every other solution costs upward of $100. Thank you so so much. Please let me know how I can donate to your cause. You guys are champs.

A Good PDF Viewer

No doubt PDF Reader is better than any others I have tried. All of its features and the smooth look make it definitely a good purchase. However, I have noticed it lags considerably when viewing PDFs larger than a couple of pages. Sometimes with 3-5 seconds delay time, which may not seem like much, but when trying to scroll through pages, it gets pretty annoying. This only happens on documents larger than 3 pages, normally. That is the only downside I have found.

PDF Reader

Exellent PDF reader. It’s completely userfriendly and has a bunch of usefull function.

Buggy

I am having similar issues to the review below. Any freehand editing I attempt just disappears. Also using El Capitan. I want to like this as much as GodReader on my iPad but so far I’m not impressed.

Really useful

As a student I need to deal with PDFs almost everyday. Its so far the complete PDF tool I came across, integrating the most necessary tools for PDF editing. Now I can do almost all of my PDF works in one app regardless of downloading several apps. Big Thanks here!!

A bit sluggish

Doing what I need right now but it is very sluggish.

Rip off

The signature and free hand does not work. Worse, the help does not provide any useful suggestions. Offers no better marking up than preveiw does on Mac.

Solid, but slow

I do a lot of scanning. It’s my main archiving tool for documents I receive. I bought this to replace the OEM Epson software that does not work after El Capitan was installed. I tried the latest Epson update supposed to fix the problems but it ddoesn’t on my GT-S50 document scanner. This program works much better. The scan feature is very solid and works great. I enjoy the thumbnails as it scans. The concurrent OCR is a useful feature. I don’t use the other features. The only negative is the scan time is slow. I truly appreciate the simplicity and great operation of the program. I would rather scan once slowly that have scanner errors. Saves time in the long run.

very nice app

Very organized. Great app!

Not bad, but not good

This program is VERY laggy on my machine, I have no problem running much larger PDF editors but this one lags. The compressor leaves much to be deired, but for a free editor it’s ok.

Much needed replacement for Preview

I read a lot of manuals online and Preview is very frustrating and lacks the needed features. This does the job.

Exactly what I was looking for

I searched high and low for a free option for adding hyperlinks to a pdf. This works perfect!

Only a “coder” could like this.

What a piece of ….. This is NOT an improvement over the old version. Who are you writing this for? If I wanted all the extrainious BS, I would pay for a full version. This is the only time where I have thought a stripped version would be a blessing.
